Service Description

An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is a portable electronic device that is used to diagnose and treat life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias, particularly ventricular fibrillation and pulseless ventricular tachycardia. These are conditions that can lead to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). AEDs are designed to be user-friendly and can be operated by individuals with minimal medical training. When someone experiences cardiac arrest, the heart can develop an irregular rhythm that prevents it from effectively pumping blood. This can lead to a rapid decrease in blood flow, causing damage to vital organs. AEDs work by delivering an electric shock to the heart, helping it to re-establish an effective rhythm. They analyze the heart's rhythm and determine whether a shock is needed. If so, the device provides audible instructions for the user on when and how to deliver the shock.
